Halbrite’s history

Halbrite sits about 20 kilometres south-east of Weyburn on Highway 39, where Highways 606 and 705 meet, in the Rural Municipality of Cymri No. 36.

The village took its name from three engineers who were working for the Canadian Pacific Railway at the time. Each lent part of his last name to the community's name: Hall, Bruce and White. Halbrite incorporated as a village on February 26, 1904.

During the Second World War, the Royal Canadian Air Force built a Relief Landing Field about two miles south of the village, serving RCAF Station Weyburn.
